Default Quick Question on 89 Lude

Thanks,

I need to know what type of engine is in my 1989 Prelude Si. It does not have four wheel steering.

I got it used a while ago, put about $6900 into it, including an engine refurb.
Then I got in a six car pile up, and I cannot see the engine, but I can still sell it, its perfectly fine. The body is wrapped up around it. The funny thing is I never needed to know what type the engine was till now. I just need to sell it or at least know what other years I can put it in so I can look for a body to drop it in.

I have to get on this, since I go to college in a month, and right now my mom gives me a ride to work. Yes, it sucks.

Anyways, thanks for helping me out here, I can't find it anywhere else, but im willing to follow a lead. I know someone knows. Tell me I'm retarded and blind, but please also tell me what type of engine I have.

Thanks,
~Daniel

If it is fuel injected you have a b20a5 engine. If it is fuel injected, but the refurb engine is from Japan, you have a b20a engine. If it is carb'd, you have a b20a3 engine.

a carb engine is one that runs off a carbarator doesnt make as much power as FI engine...u could sell it but u wont get much more if any than 650-700 bucks cause thats as much as a used jap. engine cost (b20a) i would just buy another lude and drop it in...new engine...turbo that ****

So, I should keep looking for an 89 prelude body, and put my refurbished engine in it, since I can't get any money out of it, even though its like perfectly new?

Good luck trying to find just a shell. You'd be better off just buying another fuel injected Prelude with a good engine. Make sure the body has no rust, and do a compression and leakdown test on the motor to make sure that it's in good condition.

If you buy a Prelude with a b21 (it's a 2.1 liter motor), check for leaking oil and the car eating oil as well.

Good luck man, and any more questions feel free to ask.
