Default quick question...

ok, so I bought this engine back in Feb. I have it pretty much in, FINALLY! but I just want to hear it run. I found out that one of my injectors is from an h23. I also do not have the proper ECU. all I have laying around is my old p12. Will I do any damage by just starting it up and hearing it run for a second? I need 1 345 cc injector and a p28 to complete it. Will it even run on the p12? I just want to hear it run for a second to make sure I didnt get screwed. this is an h22a4 in my 4th gen prelude btw...

p12 will not work. no vtec pins. p14 will not work either. i have an h22a4 in a 4th gen. i ran p13 with 240cc h23 injectors for 2 days. it runs nice, but under heavy load the nox smell coming out of the front was just scary, swapped to 440cc talons just to be extra rich for awhile until i could afford proper size. anyways p12 no, 240cc yes, but only temporary, way too lean.

vtec is not the issue at hand. I am not going to drive it using the p12. I simply just want to crank it, run it for a minute at max just to hear it run. I do not even have my atts adapter plate so I cant drive it. ur prelude will run without vtec wired up, I am just wondering if I did this, would there be any sort of internal damage due to the difference in fuel maps from the p12 to the p28

i'm sure the fuel maps are different, just given the fact they are not the same, but that is purely a guess. will the engine start, yes, if all the parameters the ecu needs are wired in. i personally have never used a p12 ecu for anything i ever built. i highly doubt it will blow your motor, but maybe you might want to search in civic forums and see what they say about this swap. if it were me, i would try it, but wouldn't rev the **** out of it. i'd start it and check for knocking, and valve lash, bring to temp and park until i had a properly mapped ecu.

if I start it, I wont rev it at all. this engine isnt built by any means. I am merely trying to get my prelude back up and running and trying to sell it. I graduate from college in 3 months and really need it gone by then because it will be too much to move it and I really don't have time for it. And you're right, Im merely checking it to hear of any knocks, and see what kind of compression it has, bent valves, etc...
