Question on cams...
Friend of mine is having problems with a dealership and not holding up to the warranty. They claim the car has after market cams installed although this is not the case.
So for anyone who has worked on their or replaced them...what color tone should the stock cams be on a 99 lude? Car has 77k miles on it.
Any other ideas on this subject?

First of all what problem is he having? If it isn't directly related to camshafts then it's of no concern to them what he has in there.
Secondly make them PROVE to him that he has aftermarket cams. Make them give him hard core, written evidence that they think will hold up in court that the cams that are in there are NOT stock.
"They don't look stock" will not hold up in court.

Well the original problem was the car began hitting off codes for missfire. Took it to one dealer and they said the EGR was stuck all the way open.
Fixed it and reset the codes....on the way home they kicked back on.
Brought the car to a 2nd dealer which is where it is now, which brings me to this thread and what they are trying to pull....

All it is is a code? They think aftermarket cams are throwing this misfire code? They are just looking for an excuse to NOT work on his car for free. Tell him not to give up and simply hound those bastards.
Tell your friend to have a chat with the service manager. If the service manager won't deal with it, then ask him to put in writing why he won't warranty it, then ask for HIS supervisor.
Stock cams vs ground cams or new billet cams are almost impossible to tell apart when they're installed and have been run. The only difference between them is going to be profiles on the lobes.... you have to take them out to measure THAT properly.
If your friend TRUELY does have stock cams, then it's outright contempt on Honda's part to try to say otherwise. If he takes it high enough they'll warranty it.
