Question
I have a 1995 Honda prelude si, it has a f22b motor in it right now. I am looking for a way faster motor to put in it, I was thinking of a f23a vtek but not sure I want to put out at least 250hp.which motor or head should I put?
F23 isn't what you want, they came in 98-02 accords and are 160hp to crank, so same as the H23A1 non vtec that came in our ludes except that one is a dual cam.
250hp to the wheels is pretty expensive for pretty much any route you go with a Prelude. The 3 main motors that people narrow their decision down to are H23A, H22A/H22A1/H22A4 or F20B. All of which are dual cams with VTEC and make ~180whp out of the box.
You'll be satisfied with the power just swapping one of those motors in alone. If you need more power you'll have to choose between building all motor vs turbo vs supercharged.
or do a J swap for instant 250whp NA
costs 10 grand?

The majority of Prelude owners look to the H22 for it's factory power output and ease of swapping, but the H23A has become popular in recent years, as it has become more available. It is a torquier engine than the H22A, but has a few extra things that are involved with the swap.
A basic H22A with intake and exhaust and a proper tune, will be enough to get any driver in alot of trouble very fast on the street, and be alot of fun on a track as well.
