If you want power, UR is the way to go. If you want dimming headlights/interior lights then go with AEM. They don't free up much power (AEM) when compared to the UR pulleys.

can you give me a link where i can check out those "UR" pulleys? cuz i was interested in getting some, i was lookin at AEM, but i dont know why, i just dont trust that company. also if you could maybe give me a little bit of info on unorthodox's pulleys, such as all that "ultra s, ultra ss" stuff...that would be great!

The set you want is the Ultra SS > it consists of the crank, alt. and PS pullies. They are much lighter than the stock ones, especially the crank pulley, hence putting less parasitic drag on system and more power throughout > especially in the low and mid-range which is a hard area to improve on the Lude. The crank pulley is also smaller, so it does most of its underdriving there, as opposed to AEM who uses stock crank and larger accessory pullies which causes the side effects at idle (warmer AC, dimming lights, harder steering when parking). Power gains are similar in nature with AEM, but not in magnitude. Also the UR pullies help rev through the rmp band quicker due to crank pulley, unlike that of AEM set.

I had them on my car years ago when I was NA, and they gave NOTICEABLE gains. I would say 8-10 HP and 4-5 torque is reasonable on NA, and even more so on FI cars. However, since the UR crank pulley is not harmonically balanced like the stock pulley, it has been postulated to cause premature bearing and/or oil pump failure.

Take it from me, you will find people strongly for AND against them, all with good stories and some even with proven association but not EVIDENCE of these claims, so in the end, it is up to you. Is there a risk > quite possibly. Question is, do you want to take that chance on your car? Are the gains worth it to you. Personally I would have to say that compared to trying to go forced induction again VS UR pullies, I would choose the pullies for added "grunt". I don't think anyone would argue that FI puts PROVEN increased stress on the entire engine assembly and the risks are high. Sure you can build motor up and "do it right", but PSI adds STRESS no matter how you look at it, and I don't think anyone would disagree that mile for mile, a NA motor will likely last longer than a turbo'd Lude.
While this may be off topic, it relates to the risk vs reward. Many people use the UR system, while many do FI. What are you trying to change in your car's performance and what are you willing to risk?

If you are looking for an increase in low-mid range power and overall gains throughout powerband WITHOUT having to invest tons in turbo/Supercharge, then the UR system is about your only other mod option short of nitrous. The only other mod I would consider if I were you is a lightened flywheel first and see if that gives you enough. Problem is it is hard to recommend a mod for you when we don't know what you are looking to gain.

Hope this helps.

that's helps a lot!!!! thank you for the info, i definitely think im going to look into the ultra SS' more, and as far as those risks you talked about, anytime you mod an engine it's going to have risks. so give a little take a little, gotta work through it, and yes that is about the amount of power that i'd like, something that could hold me over for a while anyways!

No not everyone with the AEM's does have the idle symptoms. Some to a lesser degree than others as well, depending on conditions, load, etc. Personally I never thought it was a big deal when I had them on my car either, though sitting in traffic on hot humid days with the AEM's wasn't my favorite place to be, so I would keep the revs up a bit at idle to help spin the AC.
