problems with my prelude
i have a 96 prelude si, and problems starting.... it cranks but wont turn over. change whole dist, cap rotor and not starting. getting no spark in wires to plug. there is spark in coil... need help please.
If you are getting spark from the coil and no distribution to the wires, it may be the distributor.... but you say its a new one right? take your distributor off and see if your camshaft is turning. If it's not it may be the timing belt. Check that first just to eliminate the possibility if you haven't already.
since you're not getting spark, it sounds like your ignitor has gone out. Double check your connections to your dizzy to be sure they're in snug
did you test the main relay? Thats more fuel related.
Mabey the rotor is faulty.
It has to be that, cause your getting spark to every thing, but once it gets past the rotor it has to transfer spark through the cap and into the wires.

if the dizzy, cap, and rotor check out and still don't have spark, change your ignitor cause that's probably what's causing you to not have spark. Same exact thing happened to a friend of mines Accord

main relay??? wheres that located... and i bought another cap and rotor.. still nothin. i had bought a whole new dizzy.... and nothing.
using a multimeter multimeter:
check the wire going from the coil to the center distributor for its resistance/ continuity.
let us know the value you get.
check for any debris in the boot plugs.
check the little carbon button in the center of your dist cap, is it still there, springy and making contact with the contactor point in the center of the rotor?
check continuity oce the center point of the rotor to the tip

yep just happen out of the blue... i relpaced the cap and rotor and plugs a month ago... all new.. the check engine light came on.. think a code 5 and 3. getting 10volts to coil... and to rotor.. there is voltage to the center.. another guy checked it and said it could be the ECM?? any ideas on that??? or location.. its a H23 so parts on this thing is getting to expencive...
Your map sensor is code 3 and 5 I think, it might be bad.
Code 5-MAP Sensor (Manifold Absolute Pressure) mechanical problem / disconnected piping
* not 94-95
Code 3-MAP Sensor (Manifold Absolute Pressure) defective circuit or unplugged / defective sensor
Your going to have to replace MAP. Or it might be unhooked. Check it out, its on the firewall behind the IM

so you have checked the resistance between the two coils in your external coil?
One coil should have a resistance of around 18000 ohms, and the other should be .6 ohms. Remember to test resistance of your Leeds (probes) by touching each other with moderate pressure. What ever resistance you get you ADD that to what resistance you get when your measuring the primary and secondary coils in the coil pack.
The dizzy is new, so cap, rotor, icm, is all new so those can't be the issue.
As for main relay just listen under your dash for a CLICK, when you turn your accessories on (not crank motor but just so radio goes on). If no click sound heard than your relay isn't priming your fuel pump. I highly doubt its that though, its deffinitly electrical.

10 volts to the coil is pretty low, should be 12 minimum. Whats your no load battery voltage? also leave the meter hooked up to the batt adn look at voltage there while you try to start the car what does it drop to after about 2 seconds cranking.
