i just installed a aem short ram intake to my 1996 prelude 2.3si, the problem is when i start driving and when i stop like at a stop light our something it starts reving up to like 2,000 rpms i can't figure out why this is it will just keep reving from 1,000-2,000 rpms till i start driving again help would be much appreciated.
I was just asking to see if by some small chance maybe you kinked the cable?... If it is you idle I would check the IAC valve... do you have a Helms Honda Prelude Manual..??

ok i thought i fixed the problem and it came back when i was driving home from a friends house. How do u reset the ecu chip? and what are other things that it could be if not the ecu and how do i fix those things?

this shouldn't have anything to do with the idle i just put a new intake on that shouldnt mean anything, and i have no idea where the radio fuse is, shouldn't unplugging the battery be enough?
i had a very very similar propblem as you and it ended up being the fast idle valve.... careful cause when i had that problem, my IACV ended up screwing up next. I don tknow if they were related or just coincidences, but beware

ok scratch the whole battery and security problem i fixed taht i already reset the ecu and that still didn't help. i need to know how to fix this iavc problem i dont even know which hose it is
We-todd is not letting me log in right now or I'd post a pic for you, but the IACV is on the front of the intake manifold. It has 2 coolant hoses coming off of the bottom of it and a black cylinder on it's side with a connector connected...
Also, personally, my idle problems never had anything to do with the IACV....always vacuum leaks(IM/TB gaskets, vacuum hoses, throttle plate not closing, etc...)
i have the same problem sometimes like if its cold out while the car is warming up my motor likes to vigorously rev from 1,000-2,000 rpms. I figure its a vacuum leak since i had to disconnect a hose...that has no where to lead on the new intake. they give you like a plastic plug but will that really be helping it? i thought about maybe making a small hole in my intake for it to be put back on there but i havent tryed that yet. But this could be the smae problem your having w-fries

i think i am going to hook my prelude up to one of those computers so i can find out the problem i remember when i bought the intake u have to take off this wire on teh front and plug it up with a rubber thing which i did, but i think ill just hook it up to a computer that should tell me the problem shouldn't it???
it's most likely a vacuum leak. Someone above mentioned the throttle cable being to tight causing jumping idle. What happens is the throttle plate does not fully close causing a vacuum leak. Since you say it started after you installed an aftermarket intake leads me to beleive that maybe you removed a vacuum hose from the intake manifold which ran to the stock intake resonator. If you did not cap off the nipple on the intake mani for this hose then thats your problem.
