I have a 2001 Honda Prelude non SH model.

I had a misfire a couple of weeks ago and changed the spark plugs the original owner had put in. He put in autolites, so I switched them out to NGK's.

The car ran great for the past couple of weeks.

I went to start my car in the morning and noticing the RPM's bouncing. Check engine light was on. Idle air control malfunction. Is my IAC bad? I tried cleaning it but that didnt help.

I also have a misfire on 1 and 3 too.

Any help is appreciated.

 

try changing out the plug wires. if u haven't already. it fixed my problem.

Also check your cap and rotor

 

i did that and its still doing the rev bouncing and the occasional misfire could it possibly be something in the distributor like maybe the ignition control module?

 

yeah, that is always a possibility... In my experiences, when an ignition control module goes out, you just don't get any spark at all, not an occasional misfire...

 

yeah, i forget to mention about that. I had that problem with a MR2, i changed that out and it runs perfect. but the MR2's not in the distributor. I think on the 5th Gen lude is in the distributor. you probably have to replace it.
