Problem with skunk2 H22 basekit?
Hey
Okay I made an topic here: http://www.pre lude power.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2925008&posted=1#post2925008
To get different oppinions.
Thing is, the guy that has my head is about to finish it up and only needs to install the valves. When he noticed that the kit he got, isnt the same as on Skunk2s photo.

Heres a picture lower right corner.
This is what skunk2 told me:
We never made the spring base kit in Ti. They have always been steel,
just like the OEM shims.
There have been no revisions to these spring bases since their release.
I also have NEVER heard of anyone wearing out a set of spring bases.
(As you recall I was the Warrant Manger for the last 4 years so I saw
each and every warranty case).
The spring bases your customer has are correct.
I did click the link and found that the shims pictured on the H spring
base page are actually K series shims. I asked the marketing director
and he told me he got lazy when shooting the pics for those. He didn't
think anyone would look at them close enough to note the
difference....I guess he was wrong haha.
If you would like to forward this reply to your customer, or have them
contact me I can verify that what he has is our current product.
So It should be safe to use? I just dont see why they havnt made it in 3 plans as the K-series basekit is, one plane to support the outer spring, and another plane to support the inner spring so it wont bounce around and cause spring bind?
Thanks, hope to hear your oppinions.

The spring bases are simply to allow you to run the pro series springs in the H22 head, as opposed to Skunk designing another set of pro series springs for the one head, instead of using the B series ones like they chose to. There should be no problem, and honestly they use "stock" photos and info for alot of their literature.

Yea but its still wrong of them not to make the ekstre seat/plan for the inner spring to sit on and hold it in place.. Things could go mental and lock the other spring that would be pretty fatal..

If your inner springs become friends with the outter springs, YOU did something wrong. My engine sees 10k rpm and its all in one piece.
