Problem? Distributor?
hello guys,
car: 95 honda accord
motor: H22A4 2000
i have been have problems with my idle(very sporadic), when i get on the gas, it hesitates some times( other times its great), and today i put my ear next to the dist. while it was running and heard like a wierd noise. i went to get some help and found out my dist. is arking! i then checked the timimg and it was way advanced! i put it back to 0, and my car will not idle right, up and down, up and down. also when i hold the timing light on the marks it moves with the idle, is my dist bad? please let me know! thanks
shane

The first this is that modifying the timing using a light on an electronically controlled car is NEVER going to help you.
The ECU corrects for lean / rich conditions automatically in order to either protect the engine or produce the proper amount of power. It does this by advancing the times or reducing it. So you should leave that alone.
If you are getting an EGR code, then you should remove the EGR valve, and clean it with carb cleaner. This is a common problem and the first place for you to start.
The last thing you should do is screw with the distributor.

i just dropped the motor in a d the timing was advanced 15 degrees, im not trying to mess with it, just trying to put it back to zero and its jumping around with the weird idle, is this the dist. or something with my idle?
