Default prelude sh shell???

i have the chance to pick up a type sh shell for cheap, theft recovery, its missing the motor and tranny. from what i can tell everything else is there. my question is will a base lude motor and tranny just drop in, the sh ecu is still there as well? if not about how much will a sh motor and tranny go for? i have no idea about the ludes at all i've never worked on one so any help would be great i gotta make a decision soon or the car will be gone, thanx.

A base motor and tranny will fit, but you also need to modify the front suspension. I knew a guy down in Portland that was selling a sh H22A4 and tranny, axle, ecu, for 2400. I don't know if he has sold it yet though. Good luck.

I am not 100% sure, but I think the ecu's are the same. The sh ecu also comes with the ATTS ecu next to it. So my guess would be don't connect the ATTS unit if your using the base engine and tranny. I also remember someone saying something about if you change the ecu it will messed up the key recognition on our cars. Hopefully someone else with more knowledge will chip in.

Personally I would go ahead and get the SH motor and tranny setup, since that what it's already designed for. ATTS is nice little bonus I'm not sure how much they run right now though, sorry...

If ever there was a candidate for a JDM TypeS Engine swap, this would be the car! The TypeS drive train will bolt right in. You'll want the TypeS JDM ECU too.

Or for about half the price of the JDM TypeS swap, you can get another US TypeSH swap. I've seen the TypeSH swaps typically sell for a bit less than a Base Prelude swap. The Type SH swaps seem to be a less desirable comodity among hybridders presumably because no one wants to deal with the ATTS in a Civic/Teg/Accord/CRX...

But you'd think with all the plowing they do with H22a swaps...ATTS would be a godsend for them, no?

Most people who do swap a H22A into their cars usually also mod the heck out of it. My experience with ATTS is that it works okay the way the H22A stock is, but when you mod it like lowering, boosting, engine work, it goes whack. My ATTS went out on me in the middle of a turn once and I almost crash into the curb and onto someones lawn. That is why when people ask me what I think of ATTS, I say, when its working, its great, but when its not, well you get the idea. Many other SH owners agree with me too, so I don't think I have a defective unit. Maybe I do, maybe a lot of the units were bad, who knows.

update, i checked the car out last nite, its a base lude not an sh. here's whats wrong with the car, the front bumper cover, hood, passenger headlight, grill and passenger side window need to be replaced. the interior is all there in in great shape. the car is a 2001 with 26,000 miles on the odo. the motor and tranny are gone, the ecu was taken, the interior and engine harness have both been cut. its got 3 stock wheels missing one. its got skunk 2 coil overs and kyb agx's. to me the car looks like a theft recovery. how much does an interior harness cost?? i know the engine harness isn't that big of a deal. i don't know the car is in really good shape, hmm what to do.

I would buy it for 1g. Since its a 2001, the springs and struts hasn't been on there that long. That alone is worth over 300. I wouldn't part it out if I bought it though. The bumper and hood can be replaced with Mugen replica kit and cf hood. Wheels can be replaced with aftermarket lightweigh wheels of your choice. I am sure you would replace those things sooner or later anyways. Good luck.
