please help with h23a1
i need some help i am trying to build my H23 with forged piston and forged rods now i heard some where that you can not put forged in any h series motors does any one know anything about this? or will i just have to sleeve block any one know the answers to this please tell me what all i need to do i don't want to take my block some where and let them put forged parts in it and then a week or 2 it breaks again also i am trying to turbo the h23 so does any one know what kind of COMP RATIO i should get the piston at it is going into a accord but i thought the you prelude people would be able to help me more
this is where i got that ideal from also i have read it before
(To start out, all S2000 and 1990 and later VTEC and SI Preludes have Fiber-Reinforced Metal (FRM) cylinder liners. That obviously includes both the H22 and H23 motors (both open and closed deck configurations.
While there still is some debate of whether you can run certain types of forged pistons in blocks with FRM liners, there is no debate on the fact that the H22 & H23 use the same block materials, etc.)
so is this right or not? or will i just have to sleeve block

I'm not trying to be mean here, but you REALLY need to do some research before you start doing anything near building your block. Can you name even 3 companies that do good sleeving and machine work? There are crappy companies and good companies, you just need to read more before you jump into this

now i do know 3 good places but i like to ask a lot of people be-4 i go head on into a project that is why i am asking you all also i am a member of http://www.topendmotorsports.com And I have asked them all this to I have read just about all I can so now I am just asking people to make sure what I have read is right.
I was just trying to find out when i told him to sleeve the block if he had to do it a special way or out of a special material
now on the machine work i have called every one in the phone book in OKC and no one has worked on a H23 before but 80% of them told me to call (carters engine replacement 405-350-6640) he seem to know what he is talking about now if you know some one better please tell me

OK, cool, good that you've put thought into this. Here's where I would send my block and probably will once I get some cash--https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=692320 I don't think I've ever heard anything bad about these guys. Golden Eagle also does great work, but there is a couple bad experiences scattered around..not many, though.
If you don't want to send the block off, there is not much chance of finding a local place that works on H23s (as you've already found out...), but there is a place here in Ft. Worth that would do a good job called Automotive Machine. I had them rebuild my head and the work and turnaround was great. They even have an H23 P&P'd head in their showroom

Drop us an email AVengineering1@aol.com if you are interested in our engine building services.
you REALLY need to research way more before u decide to build your block. find out what you plan to do. if you plan to go with forced induction, you should think about lowering your compression with pistons..and yada yada..read around sir.
