Default Piston ring question

So I'm rebuilding my h22a1 engine. I bought a full kit which included new standard pistons and rings. The spec for end gap is .0010 - .0014" for the first ring and .0024 -.0030 for the second. I measured the gap and I'm way over on the both. Do I still follow the oem spec or does it not matter because I'm using the aftermarket set . They are NPR rings. Any help appreciated thanks.

You still need to be in OEM specs. How much bigger are they? Are you sure your measuring right? Do you know what you p2w clearance is?

Yes I measured it correctly. Don't the rings expand when they get hot? Was thinking they may have a diff expansion rate than the factory rings. Well mine are about double on the first and a lil over on the second I don't recall the final reading I'm goin to measure it again tomorrow to get the exact measurement but it wasn't even close

ok so i measured it again. the first ring was at a .014 and the second ring was .009. can anybody confirm the spec. i got it from alldata. it seems like they got the side clearance and the end gap specs switched. That is alot of side clearance and the range for the top ring so big( .0010 - .014) and the second there is no way I can get a .024 in there
Piston Ring End Gap
Top Ring
0.0010-0.0014 in
Second Ring
0.0024-0.0030 in

Piston Ring Side Clearance
Top Ring
0.0010-0.014 in
Second Ring
0.024-0.030 in
Oil Ring
0.008-0.020 in

found this from npr.
To use one standard for all end gaps is no longer correct. The correct end gap for each engine depends on many factors including tension, ring material, ring shape, piston shape and cumbustion chamber pressure.
NRP manufacturers each piston ring gap with the correct oem spec for each individual engine. There are no need, nor do we recommend that you alter them in anyway as this might void our warrenty. Also note that these end gaps are set at exact bore demensions. If the bore is slightly oversized the end gap will increase accordingly.

they have a spec for their rings. h22 has 87mm bore.
bore size (75mm-89mm)
compression ring gap 0.25mm- 0.50mm
3pc oil ring gap 0.25mm - 1mm
