Default p5m ecu question

my buddy has a 99 prelude non type sh auto. and recently the ecu went bad in it and he was talking to this guy at work who says he can get him a ecu and put a performance chip in it. i tell my buddy wait this is pretty much impossiable you cannot chip a obd2a ecu and what the hell is a perofmance chip whats that going to do screw with the base map make it run lean and blow up. then my buddy says o this guy knows what hes doing hes been doing it for years. i told him sure he has.

am i correct with this or am i wrong about this.

my budddy also wants to turbo the prelude. but i told him theres no actual right way to do it, for the sure fact the tranny will not hold up. not to mention what are you going to use to tune it. the right way is get a p28 and get it chipped and tuned and i dont think he can run a p28 for the sure fact the ecu that runs the tranny needs the the p5m obd2a ecu. the vafc are useless they work but it still isnt the right way to tune a turbo car and the piggy back systems are just garbage.

anyone please put in any input on this. thanks
