Default P13 Ecu problems

Hey guyes, you've helped me out before, and now I'm askin again. I bought this JDM P13 ecu for my H22 engine swap into my 1990 Accord. When I finally finished the swap and tryied to start the car it barrely started and it sputters, and it will not rev higher than about 4500rpm. I tried my friends P28 ECU(sohc vtec)and it worked, so I atleast know my motor works. Is the ecu bad? and how can I test it to see if it really is faulty, any tips or hints for something I can do to fix the problem would be awesome, Thanks peeps

It's a possibility. Are there any CEL's?

Check Engine Light, its the lil yellow light. DO a search on how to check the codes, its all pretty simple and self explanitory. Just get yourself a paper clip.

What type of injectors do u have in the car? If they are not h22 injectors there is your problem.

Hey guys thanks for the tips I'll get back to you on the injectors in a bit. Any other advice, and also how would injectors be the problem when the car ran fine with the other ecu? is that why I need to get h22 injectors not just swap over the injectors from my accord?

certain ecu's will run with only certain injectors...more than likely the injectors you have in your car now have just enough flow to work with a p28, but when you try to use the p13, it doesn't work. this is b/c the p13 is used to higher flow injectors and the car runs lean..then the o2 sensor tries to compensate but can't and the car runs very irratically and has no power.

i found this out the hard way: by trying to figure out for about 3 months on why my jdm h22 didn't work..it was b/c the injectors were mismatched with old h23 prelude injectors...

I hooked the ECU up to my car again and basiclly what's going on is it feels like my car is running off of two cylinders with the P13, the vtec won't work and the rev limiter is kicking in at 4800rpm. I threw a jumper wire in to check what codes I'm throwing and my check engine light wont even flash, its on but it won't flash the codes. I know my wiring is right I've checked it all at least 5 times I've done this same swap 3 times so I know how to do know it, also I'm using the H22A injectors, so I don't think anything is wrong with the swap. But just to make sure I tried my friend's OBD-1 B16 ECU and my car ran fine, and then I tried my other friend's OBD-1 D16Z6(SOHC VTEC) ECU it worked, and then I even tried my stock F22 ecu and it worked (no vtec of coarse.)

Any other suggestions, or do you think the ecu is done for it?

you're talking about injector sizing...not type. Any honda ecu can run a peak and hold or a saturated injector...you just need to run a resistor box with the PnH and not with the saturated...the ecu drives them the same way. Honda Peak and holds are not true peak and hold that's why.

Anyway yes an ecu is designed with fuel maps for a given injector size and fuel pressure. so if your injector size and FP aren't right you are going to run into problem, because the ecu doesn't know what size they or what fp you are running, it just assumes it.

Anyways tot he original poster isn't it obvious the ecu you bought is a piece of crap? Find a known good P13 ecu from someone and test it out. If everything runs fine your JDM P13 is crap. Problem solved.
