Default Overheating at stops

After the engine is warm when i come to a stop the engine temp. starts to go up pretty quick. when i start going again the temp. goes down slowly.

The engine is an H22A (jdm) i put in a new h2o pump when i did the timing b 4 it went into the car. after i had it running it was overheating so i replaced the thermostat, hoses, and radiator. any ideas on where the problem lies?

Are the fans working? Did you install a HONDA t-stat? Aftermarket t-stats are NOT reliable.

My thoughts exactly. I replaced my t-stat, rad, and hoses after an overheating problem. It didn't fix the issue. So I replaced the t-stat with a HONDA and problem is solved.

Yeah if the fans are not coming on its deff.. going to get hot...maybe a bad fan switch, maybe a bad relay, whatever you do , dont wire your fans in direct to stay on all the time...it will burn them up

And a compression test will not always show a leaking headgasket, leakdown test would though

Was going to say get a new switch, don't think they are too expensive. Might test which fan is comming on, do you have the A/C running when you are stopped? If that is not spinning that could be part of the problem.

If the head gasket was popped, it wouldnt cool down when he starts driving. A stuck closed t-stat will not heat up the fan switch. The fan switch is on the cold side of the t-stat. I would replace the t-stat with a Honda unit. And then if he's still having problems, check the fan switch.
