honestly, it seems as though it's overkill. 720CCA!? do you have a large sound system? i'd put in an integra or civic battery with the highest CCA you can get(aim for 400 at least if daily driver and in winter) and enjoy the weight reduction.

i believe oem CCA for the prelude is 550 - 585 amps. (someone correct me if i'm wrong). i run 550 in my car all year long. (even in winter with 0 degree or below temps). i even have a 250w rms amp and sub in my car and have no problem what so ever.

you'll be fine with a battery that high just kind of a waste; especially since you live in california.

i think the guy b4 me had a system so that might be why he had a 720cca battery

so im guessing im gunna downgrade to 550-600 when i get a new one. time to search see it optima has one. braille only goes up to 425 cca. any one know a lightweight battery at 550 cca?

optima 51r yellow top has high cca (500 +) and weighs in at 26 lbs. (15+ lb weight reduction).

i've heard good and bad things about them though.

m2b4: why in the chart does it have 3 choices? one for each model prelude?

lude-tec,

i'm from so cal as well and have used an alternative set up with absolutly no issues.

i have a 24 lbs lawn mower battery with 340 cca that i got at autozone for $26

i've had it for over two years, 100% start up so far.

You definately don't need a heavy-*** Optima unless you have a big system.

Odyssey makes really small/lightweight batteries and you cna get them for under $100. I could be wrong but I think the performance ranks up there with Optima. I've had a red top and a yellow top in my Prelude never had a problem with either of them (besides draining the red one too many times).

in the chart theres 3 diff ones b/c it said if you cant read the info on your battery it gave the oem 3. when testing your supposed to read a code (if the stickers were un readable or gone) on your battery when you test it so you knwo how many cca it should be. my natural guess would be 3 for each diff model. i checked the odyssey website and couldnt find any for cars lower then 680. if someone can link me. the braille one has 425cca but i dunno if that would be enuf. right now i have a silvercraft and it weight 46 lbs i wanna drop that weight
