O2 sensor problem, maybe more????????
have a 97 turbo prelude and the other day when i went to crank up the car, the car cranked up just fine then about two seconds later it died out, i did this a few times and every time the car cranks just fine then dies immediately after. if i put my foot on the accelerator before it dies sometimes i can keep it running but it dies after i take it off. i tried driving it forward just to see if it will clear out but the car just bucks really hard and when the rpms get too low it cuts off, btw the car does run lean already. the guy i bought it from told me to reset the ecu, this is my first honda and im nowhere near a mechanic so im not sure if thatll clear it out or not, i unplugged the POSITIVE battery terminal to try to reset it, i hear that you have to unplug the negative. is there any difference?? also in a 97 prelude is the fuse for the ecu on the drivers side near the clutch pedal??? ( i have a Chipped OBDI P72 ECU) if that helps any... like i said i just got this car and it is my first honda and my first time using any type of forum so any info you can lend me will be greatly appreciated and if this has been asked before, please do forgive me. thank you
My Dodge did this after the battery got really low but didnt actually die. I had to totally disconnect the battery and let the computer reset and then it reset its fuel mixture. Once I did this it worked just fine. Hopefully its something simple like that for you.
