Default New engine ???

I have a 98 SH which 116,000 miles on it. The engine feels pretty good but I'm sure not as good as it did off the lot. I was looking to start racing it but heard from some people that they wouldnt race anything with over 100k miles. I drive the car hard but not insane. I was recently looking a prelude type-s engines. I wanted to see what everyone else here would do in my situation: 1. rebuild the engine I have now, 2. buy the type-s engine 3. race the thing till it dies and then worry about a new engine.

do a compression test, leakdown test, and a tune up. If it's all good then go race away.

That statement is pretty worthless. A well maintened car can easily last a few hundred thousand miles these days. Like Flip said, look at your engine's current health, stay up with the maintenance and get out there and race.
