Default need suggestions

allright, i'm new here - so hey everyone, i'm Sam...

i drive a 94 prelude w/ f22a motor SOHC non-vtec...the car was in rough shape when we bought it and we're just now getting it to the point where the car is in 'good shape' and i still need to put in new spark plugs, wires, and a negative battery wire.

asside from that, im not too good with the terminology i see some people use on the forums so i just have to ask...what do people mean when they say "internals"? is that deeper motor work like cams and whatnot?

either way, currently i'm running a mostly stock setup, the only thing ive done to the car are some pace setter black headers, AEM ram air intake, 17" excel DL-46's and some clear bumperlenses and side markers, but i want to actually get into the motor for some more performance now...

here's where i need suggestions, i need to finish the 'exhaust', i was thinking of getting a custom 3" mendrel bent downpipe, a high flow cat and a new muffler, but the only problem i see with that is it will be loud...i want it to be barely louder than stock, cause i love the sound of a honda motor w/ intake, but at the same time get the most out of the system i can...suggestions?

VTEC is another issue, alot of people say VTEC isn't much but evidently it is...my friend has a 94 accord EX w/ f22b and i pull from him until we hit third gear and his VTEC kicks in i guess and he catches up and pulls from me. to me, thats a good difference ...either way, a couple things have crossed my mind - putting a VTEC head off a f22b on the car (will i not need new headers and f22b ecu with that?) or a swap for the h22a...but the swap i've been looking at for a couple months, and it looks like that's going to cost me a good bit to get done right. what are the risk factors involved in swapping the head for VTEC and having someone who knows what they're doing wire the VTEC?

anyway thanks in advance and please bombard me with tips and suggestions.

-sam
