Default Need a solid alarm..will this do the trick?

I need an alarm that is pretty good, but not over paranoid going off at every single loud noise.

I decided that viper alarms was probably the way to go...but is this model going to be good?

Viper 791 XV 2 Way

That was the one I was thinking of buying because its on ebay for a fairly cheap price...however, if you guys know of any other models that are pretty good and aren't too expensive please leave them here.

Wouldn't even have considered getting an alarm, if my friend's civic didn't get stolen last night :/

btw...can you even set 93 lude's with those ghetto locks to the alarm so you have keyless entry?

Thats a good alarm, I had it on my jeep for a while, I have the Viper 350HV on my Prelude right now and I like it. Easy to install alarms, make sure you get a backup battery and proxy sensor though if you want the best.

btw if you dont have power door locks and you want keyless entry, any Best buy or other electronic stores that sell alarams should have power door lock actuators. Again I installed those on my jeep, pain in the ***, but worth it!

I have the a 2way alarm and love it... I didnt try installing it myself tho, because I wanted a warranty and upgrade plan. If you get a remote start option you need to have a Spare Key for the alarm to read.. 2-way alarm systems are the only way to go, expecially viper. Id recommend having it installed professionally tho because warrantys and such, if my car is stolen not only do i collect on fullcov, but my alarm compony pays up to 2,800 dollars of it. also 10% off insurance.

dude dont buy a refurbished alarm.. I dunno about all that, expecially a non 2-way alarm... Go have one professionally installed by a reputable viper or clifford dealer. Wait for the money, I Paid 750 for mine.. and its brand new with life time warranty prof installed. Dont cheap out on the most important feature on a car.

haha, i feel bad for you guys, the viper alarm i am getting from best buy, which retails for 500 dollars is 177, with install, and will end up being like 230. haha i love employee discount.

but seriously, dont get a refurb, get a new alarm, and viper stuff is the best IMHO

I have my viper alarm system already, didn't buy it from best buy but I plan on bringing it there for install maybe...how much do they charge for a job like that? or how much would an autobody charge?

I work in the best buy install bay. The charge is $200 to install it, $100 on an employee discount. But if your good with wiring, just get the wiring schematics and do it yourself. If you have no idea, dont mess with it though.

sad to say but an alarm will help only if someone cares. And with the large amount of alarms going off for no reason, many people have been immune to the loud blare.

Just make sure you get one that has a tracking feature. And it doesn't hurt to get the AutoLock thing that locks up the clutch or brake pedal.
