Need Help, Starting problem
Hi all, This will be my first post.
I've searched around for this topic that relates to my problem with no luck
so heres how it goes.
I was driving home from work yesterday like I always do, and at a light I noticed that my engine was overheating at max, so I turned the car off till the light turned green, Big mistake, thecar didn't turn back on. I didnt notice any power loss so I dont know how long I was driving with the overheated engine. I just hope I didnt damage the block.
Anyways, the car didnt start, everytime I turn the ignition, something (maybe
the starter) would short circuit, and make a snap sound and the interior light,
gauge light and radio would cut off, and I would have to yank the positive
connection of the battery in order to get the power back. I had someone who was
driving by help me out, and he thought it was bad battery connection and tightend
both pos and neg, but it still made the same snap and a short. We also jumped the
battery but with the same results. so I'm guessing the battery is fine.
I ended up getting the car towed home.
This morning I checked what made my engine overheat and found out the the
lower radiator hose had a hole in it.
and tried getting the car to start but with
no luck. I am getting fuel, and im sure its not a main relay or a ignition switch
since I've already had that problem before.
I'm thinking I need a new starter.

Appreciate any advice.

take your starter up to Auto Zone or something and have them test it out cause they do it for free. It defenitly sounds like possibly the starter has gone bad and take your battery in as well just to have that checked.
Thanks for the reply,
I got the car working again.
I took the starter out to see if it would work out side the transmission, before I take it to autozone, and the starter motor worked so I stuck it back in, and the car works now.
I not sure what was wrong but , I guess one of the connection was touching the
body or something.
I kinda feel stupid that the fix was so easy. but all it matters is that the car works.
Thanks
