need help, something wrong with starting
well here the story, so i come home and parked the car at about 12 pm then the next morning i start the car but it takes longer to start than normal(it does start but not smoothly) so could it be that i need to replace my battery or is it sometihng else that i need to replace
ps i live in canada and it is starting to get cold, if that has anything to do with it
it doesn't take a few more starts but lets say for normal starting it takes about 1-3 seconds but when i leave it parked overnight in cold weather it takes about 4-7 secs to start, well i just bought the car and the battery looks pretty new, i am unsure about the plugs though
my car starts fine other times but just when i leave it parked overnight in cold weather

i am pretty sure this is normal out of any car when it is cold. It will take some more strength to start a motor when it is colder out side. i wouldnt worry about it unless it doesnt crank at all.
I live in Canada and it shouldn't be even close to cold enough to have struggled starting. I have owned 3 Honda's and 2 were more than 15 years old. They would start Slower but no problem on thoes god awefull -40 days without plugging in.
If the previous owner used a bunch of stop smoke in the engine, this will REALLY thicken up the oil and the symptoms you have can come about. What I would do is a full tune up and oil change.
This means (at the very least),
Check coolant
Replace Plugs, Cap & rotor
Change oil to 5W 30 or (thicker) 10W 30
Check/Change Tranny Fluid
and you should see better starting.
Keep in mind that the starter motor is the BIGGEST drain on a battery. If the battery is good and has enough cranking power, the starter could be suspect. You shouldn't hear any starting lag until 5-10 degrees or less. Above that should start in the norm time.
