he's obd2 he needs a code reader to check for cels as he is 5th generation. This is your best starting point.
Oh yeah, an ur a lucky bastard, I miss driving in europe (portugal) where you can actually take your car as fast as it can go and likely there are still people passing you like your at a stand still. too much fun. My 85 year old grandpa (when he was 85 I should say) was driving us 180 kms an hour and that was pretty scary, considering he only has two fingers on one hand and is blind as a bat lol.

My O2 sensor went out about 3 weeks ago, and when they pulled the code, it was on the passengers side. Mine was Bank 1 Sensor 1, and I did not lose any power, the CEL just came on. I can't tell you exactly where they found it, but it was on the passengers side somewhere

After doing a little research to try and help, I found this
"In order to get the code you'll need to find the service connector. On the 5th Gens it's on the right hand side of the centre console underneath a carpeted panel that just pops right out. The connector looks like a telephone connector and is plugged into a blue plastic piece that just serves as a holder. Unplug it and you'll see that it has two sockets in it that lead to two wires."
