i think what you are looking for to not hurt your car is definitely a wet system (mixes fuel and nitrous before injection) that has a shutoff range. basically, it will stop the nitrous before your fuel shutoff (rev limiter). i think most kits have these now, but that's what you are looking for.

A wet kit is a little more work being that you have to tape into the fuel line to get gas but that’s it. Some people say 50 shot is safe but I say 75 and pull some timing with those gears. I love the feel of that 2nd kick after vtec. Its like dsvtec Dual Stage!!!!!
HEY you stoled my avatar!!!!!!!

the easiest setup and the safest setup is ZEX... because the ludes run rich we have a good setup for nitrous

i wouldnt go more than a 75 shot without retarding the timing or getting fuel upgrades

as you can see from my signature, i'm basically stock so i really haven't "tested" the tranny all that much....i drive like a maniac myself and i will until it kills me, and from what i've seen, this tranny will still be strong when i do

zex is fine for a normal user. but if you get addicted and feel like jumping the shot up its a lot more complicated. the purple box has everything already preset for shot X, Y or Z. where as with any other brand you can go to whatever the max flow rate of the solenoid is, which is generally in the 300 whp range. all you have to do is re-jet.

but do not get me wrong. if you are going to be happy with 75 and under go zex or whatever your heart desires. but read that sticky first. its at absoluteprelude.com as well i believe.

Yep; I signed up for that site specifically for their nitrous forum.

In short, since noone's really answered the question:

Use the nitrous correctly, and it won't hurt your motor. Use a step colder plugs. Retard the timing properly. Read the spark plugs after every spray. Use an arming switch, a WOT switch, and a window switch to ensure you only spray when it's safe. Make sure you aren't leaning out when spraying. Only spray for up to 15 seconds at a time w/ a wait of 10 minutes between each run.

Etc.
