Default Major Probelsms Please Help!!!

I was driving my car really hard and in third gear and than my car wouldn't accelerate but the the engine would rev and the rpms would go up when i hit the gas. When i came to a stop and i put the car in gear and it wouldn't go anywher it would just rev. I noticed when i put it in gear it was making noise i'm assuming from the tranny. The clutch still has the same amount of pressure. By the way my car is turbocharged. I'm thinking it's probably the tranny with the extra power i'm putting down. Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks for the insight but the clutch only has about 5000 miles on it. It's an act hdss with street disc. I only put down 240 whp on the dyno. Do you think it's possible there is damage to the tranny? I just don't see how a new clutch could go bad that fast. Is a stock tranny able to handle 240whp?

clutch capabilites depend on torque output, not HP. your using a clutch with specs that most people with simple bolt ons use.

quick way to find out if your clutch is bad:
let the engine idle
try to put it in gear without touching the clutch at all
if it feels like its gonna grind, try pushing the clutch in and do it again, if it now goes in, that means that your clutch hydraulic system and the throwout bearing are all working correctly

now, if pushing the pedal down makes no difference, then your clutch is getting no grip at all....try this, put it in first gear and let the clutch out without giving any gas, if it doesn't stall, then the clutch is shot

i can put the car in gear without pushing in the clutch. Also when i was towing the car home with towstraps in neutral the speedometer was not registering any speed. It stayed at 0 the entire time.

what about the speedometer not giving a readout while my car was on and in neutral and being towed. A friend of mine says that would mean something is messed up in the tranny because the vss is not able to give a reading.

well you should check a few things, firstly make sure the VSS is plugged in and the axles are not broken, and still spinning the transmission

Jack you front end up and put the car in neutral, then turn the passenger side wheel by hand. You should be able to hear the tranny moving, or at least your differential, you can do this with the drivers side wheel also. If there is no binding put it in gear and try it again. See if you can turn the wheel.

I put my car in gear while it was running right after it broke and had my friend push it and he was able to easily.

I checked my car out today and found the following. I turned both wheels with the car jacked up and when i spun one of the wheels the other side did not spin. I investigated both of the axles. The one on the driverside appeared to be in the intermediate shaft just fine. I looked at the passenger side and noticed the axle wasn't completely in the tranny. The last lugnut on the wheel was a pain to get off. I had to use a breaker bar since an impact would not work. This should be the root of the problem right? Do you think i have transmission damage or something else as a result of the axle popping out of the tranny?

there are retainer rings on the end of the axle shafts that hold the shaft in the tranny. make sure that you replace that before you put it back in or it will happen again. And that clutch could go out I am only making 360 hp and have the 6 puck ACT race clutch with the fidanza fly wheel and it still burnt it up.

I had this problem a few weeks back... I was playing around in a parking lot sliding and burning the tires and ****.... Then felt like someting snapped and the engine revved but wouldnt catch gear..... I thought it was the clutch but I split the drive axles clean in two... Even in neutral, it sounded like the engine was making a clicking noise so I didnt know what it was. Put the car up on a lift and saw the axles and was like OMFG..... Holy ****!!!! I kept the axles because i couldn't believe I did that. Was fun in the lot though!!!!

I have confirmed the problem as the axle. I pulled the axle and the splines were sheared down pretty well. I had to clean the pieces out of the tranny and get a new axle. I installed it and it seems fine right now.
