Major electrical problem
Sup everyone, well for some reason every time I fix one thing on my car, something else has to mess up. I've already done an Archive search and came up with 1 thread but it wasn't helpful at all. Right now I'm having a major problem with my taillights, dash lights, and parking lights. I keep popping fuses and I have no clue why. I've gone as far as unhooking my gauges, climate control, taillights, took the parking light bulbs out, unhook my fogs, and even swapped the combinatio switch, you name it, I've probably tried it, and I'm still popping fuses. I've tried putting a 20A fuse inside the car, and it pops the one under the hood, so when I put a 15A inside the car, that will pop and the one under the hood will be fine. If anyone can possibly help me out, I'd really appreciate it. I'm suppose to be working at HIN right now, but I can't go until I fix this problem. I'm not trying to drive my car at night with no taillights working.
Thanks in advance
Thanks in advance

it pops when I attempt to turn on the parking lights. I just turn the first click, and it pops

I ran out of 15A fuses, so I tried a 20A but still having the same problem

Just discovered that the lights works just fine when I turn my alarm on and off. I don't know why I didn't notice this before, but this morning I hit my taillights which set my alarm off and the lights were working just fine. I figured I'd put another fuse inside and it popped when I attempted to turn the parking lights on

Car doesn't even have to be running and it still pops.....I've now got the taillights working, gauge cluster, side switchs and climate control working, but I still don't have the front parking lights working

almost sounds like the relay rather than shorted wires.
front parking lights?
Liscence plate lights: you could rerun wires from your rear running lights (lights that go on the second you turn lights on) not brake lamp light, or reverse light, the other light in your rear light cluster. You would have to splice off that wire.

Now I got the license plate light to work. Come to find out, I forgot to simply hook it back up. I still don't have the front parking lights work nor my fog lights or the switch working. I've swapped relays around with my other car and the problem is still there
ok i had the same exact problem with my prelude, there is a module behind your underdash fuse panel that you need to replace. basically you replace it and all your problems are solved don't try to rewire things if you can avoid it because i did this and my some of my wiring heated up and melted
thats what will happen if you use fuses with too high an amperage rating, you'll burn wires and connectors.
These kinda problems always happen with those f*Cking alarms, nobody can wire those things right....

Yea, I tried that cause I had an extra one, and it didn't work at first, so then I just went out the next day, took my passangerside fender off, cut the side marker wires out, unplugged my passangerside multiplex unit, turned on my lights and they worked. Well at least my taillights and dash lights worked, but I still don't have my front parking lights. That's not a big deal to me at the moment. Just glad my taillights and dash lights work and I can drive at night.

That's what's wierd. I've had my alarm on my car for over 3 years without any problems till now. I probably did burn something out in my multiplex unit. My fogs still don't work though and neither does the light on the switch
