yeah im just goin tog et a new one....and i think i finally found it today...problems that have been recently happening to my car and also only did this late last summer is when it gets to hot my car just wont start. My dad could of swore it was the fuel pump...well thats what the main relay is right? the power to the fuel pump. Well i had no problems with it through the winter or spring, or even up untill yesterday it started doing this stuff again. So im pretty sure from what people told me my main relay is bad...am i right?

well, usually I would be driving the car and then park run in some place and when I got back in the car and tried to start it. it wouldn't start. It would turn over but not start for like 10 min. and then it would start up just fine. But it was very intermittent, I could go a month with out a problem and then when I was in a hurry thats when It happened the most. I changed it out and never had the problem again.
Also a side not, when installing this you don't need to remove the bolt, because thats a major pain in the ***. you can just use a flat screw driver and remove the "insides" and just pop it in to place in a matter of seconds.

Come on you slackers - that orange **** slides right out! Use a razor blade and pry between the silver box and the orange guts. One tab on each side holds it in. Don't remove the silver box - don't remove the metal bracket.
Then slide the orange deal (with connector still attached down and out, undo the connector, flip it over and resolder - then plug it back in.... I did mine yesterday in 10 minutes. And then I pushed it back into the silver holder... TADA!!!
and yes, online (san leandro) it's 45$

so do the solder joints actually get fucked up , or is is the contact points of the relay? could you visibly see the solder was screwed up?

Good question. I resoldered the joints (about a dozen of them), and put it back in. I saw that one of the joints was a little bare, and all of them looked old (like 12 years old!). It also smelled burnt, like that burnt capacitor smell. I couldn't really see the relay contacts entirely - just a little of their length. I could also see part of the inductors of the relay.
I also grabbed a spray can of air (like for computers) to freeze the thing if it acts up again. I would say that if it does not work again (like today after work cause it's friggin hot), it would be the relay contacts, or something else like the pump, etc.
When you first turn your car to 'On', you can hear this relay click, and when you start your car successfully, the car will over-rev for a split second. Then this relay clicks again, and the idle goes down to where it needs to be (depending on whether the car is cold or not). When my car refuses to start - I do NOT hear this relay click the first time.
