Lowring the lude
has anyone lowered there 5th gen. with springs only? when i say with springs only i mean useing the oem shocks with the aftermarket springs. im looking at a set of sprint springs for my lude and i was going to use my oem shocks, is this a bad idea?

Years ago, when I and my Prelude were both much younger, it was on H&R street springs and OEM shocks.
It was fine.
The car didn't spontaneously explode or implode, nor did the sky come crashing down.
However, once I went with a full coilover setup, the difference was night & day.
My 2 cents.

LOL. I would recommend getting shocks/springs at the same time. I have H&R Sports and KYB AGX's and it is a very nice ride for the money I spent

i had ground control on stock shocks and loved em. the ride was barely bumpier than stock. with shocks though it can feel BETTER than stock and handle like a dream at the same time. Why not do it in stages?
Lowering your lude with springs should be fine. Mainly, the only trouble with using OEM shocks comes if you're using coilovers, and sometimes that isn't even a problem, depends on the brand.

yea. hes right brand matter. if you're at a total loss find the # for the company and call. most of the time theyll be able to give really helpful info on what will suit you and your driving style etc.
For a beginner, its okay. I am running TEIN S TECH springs on my GTI which are mainly for cosmetic purposes: spring rates slightly higher than stock. Its the drop thats gonna kill my shocks. BTW, i have sport shocks from the factory so i decided to do it. 15,000 miles and still good.
I have Koni Yellows in my room and im waiting for taxes to get H&R race springs.

if you don't have that many miles on your stock shocks... then go for it. otherwise save up for some koni's or agx's. how low is the drop supposed to be on those sprint springs anyways? i had some on a 96 civic and it was about a 2.5-2.75" drop.
