Default lower ball joints

Just curious if the front lower ball joints on the knuckles are the same for the front as they are for the back. I am just about to purchase some new ones and just want to double check if they are all the same.

Thanks guys.

I don't believe they are. I got a quote before and front and rears were diff prices. The shop you go to can't look it up to tell if they are the same?

edit: was going to check majestic Honda but i recall Honda wouldn't sell just the ball joint and tried selling me the whole knuckle...they aren't available from honda seperatly. the guy showed me the illustration and knuckle/ball joint are one part number.

I replaced my lower ball joints from the world suspension, or whoever that store is on ebay that sellls ball joints and control arms and tie rods.

They fit in the knuckle fine. But replacing your lower ball joints stiffens up your steering tremendously, its going to take a while i foresee for mine to break in, if they ever do.

Good to know, i think i'll pick them up. Did you get all 4 done? One my first prelude i had all for knuckles replaced (it was alot) and the steering felt absolutely amazing after it. Felt like a new car.

World suspension from ebay is ****. I had one of their balljoints SNAP on me which essentially sent my car into a guardrail on a bridge at 45 mph, bent 2 rims and ****ed up my fender/broken axle/bent radius rod because of it. they claimed this is the first time any balljoint has failed on them. I was broke an couldn't afford a lawyer, they basically said to **** off and gave me half off of my cost of the balljoint. They claimed they were going to send a box prelabeled to send the balljoint in so they could inspect it and they were halting all sales of that part number. NEVER HAPPENED. i learned the hard way that certain parts shouldn't be cheaped out on and top notch should be purchased..
if the wheel had flopped over the other way and sent me across the lane i would have been sent straight into a gas carrying semi. not trying to jack the thread but the guy above said he used world suspension, i posted about this when it happened and figured i'd mention it again.

ha, i have their upper control arms on the car too. We will have to see. Id hate to have to redo it all.

04510-sL5-000. yea this is 35 bucks. but doesnt say what car its for. just looked up the knuckle is 240 bucks from honda and the upper control arms are 140. guess thats why went with world suspension.

I have driven the car very hard on the upper control arms, no problems yet. and the ball joints, i did drive hard on them for 3 days so far. with some very bad wheel hop too. And they are still on. I may replace them in the spring. Just very broke from the h22 swap.

Thanks Shutta for the story, the last thing i want to do is cheap out and after that story even if it means buying new kunckles i most likely will. Thanks moonrock for the part number. Who sells those though? if i call honda will they be able to sell me just the balljoint? If Honda Canada does not sell those seperately can i pay one of you guys to order them for me? I'll toss an extra 20 in it for who ever does Majestic Honda won't sell to Canadians.

I had about 3 months of regular driving of the balljoint before it failed. almost 10 months ago to the day.. it showed no signs of any problems before it failed either. If i still have the balljoint in the garage somewhere i'll try to get pictures.. i think i have pics of my car when it happened also. I'm glad my cousin works for a towing company and gets good deals at parts stores for the business. he did the work, towed the car from the road on a sunday morning, bought an axle, and balljoint and i think he charged me less than $300.

Because of the fact the balljoint was new, 100% installed correctly, and showed no signs of damage/wear while i was driving, i won't ever go through them again. plus they treated me like crap.

I have never had a problem with Moog suspension components.
They have every thing I have ever needed including camber kits.

well since i was home for the holidays at my dads house, I had the opportunity to inspect my world suspension parts. Of the lower ball joints that have about 200 miles on them, one is ripped already, and the other one - one of the set rings seems to not be in place.

As for my world suspension control arms, the ball joints look perfectly fine, and they have been on the car for a couple years now.

If the recall has already been performed on the vehicle, that's it.

04510-sL5-000 - this part number is not for preludes.

Well my fix so far for replacing ebay lower ball joints, is to buy used prelude knuckles from 2 years newer lude. Of which have the lower ball joint intact.
