I noticed the other day there was a little puddle under my front bumper of coolant... I was like... wtf a coolant leak. So I pop the hood... and i can see that it's leaking from the cap....?? there was a little puddle on the fan shroud and then I could see where it ran down and was dripping off underneath. Not a whole lot... but some. I checked the res and it was a little bit low... so I added some. Then last night I took my car to the mall etc. Came back and parked it like normal... then this morning I noticed the small puddle again... same thing, coolant on the fan shroud. I took the cap off and the coolant is clear up in the radiator.. and u can see that the cap is all wet inside.

So what's goin on?? Is it as simple as the cap is bad and isn't sealing properly?? I replaced it prob a year ago cuz it wasn't letting it breath and my hoses were sucking shut. It was a cheap cap though and I wouldnt doubt it's bad again.

The car doesn't heat up at all or anything. No oil in my coolant or coolant in my oil.

pop your hood open, wait for it to warm up, and watch it to see where
it's leaking at

 

I'm not really wondering WHERE it's leaking... but WHY it's leaking.

 

when you find out where it's leaking, you should know why it's leaking.

if it's coming from the cap, then it's probably just a faulty cap
