Known issue??
During cold weather in my 2000 Prelude i get a almost grinding noise when the front shocks rebound after a stop. So as the cars nose raises after a stop is when I hear it. Also when that starts to happen every no and then I will hear a pop when i take off again. I don't have to take off hard to hear that just normally. It happened last winter and I took it in and they couldn't find anything. It didn't happen all summer then it started when it got cold again. The grinding noise sound like mayby dirt in the shock but only when it's cold and the pop almost sounds like a shock bolt loose. Has anyone else seen or heard of this problem and fixed it so I can tell the dealer what to fix? I'm a salesman so I have buddies at the dealer so they'll do whatever but they can't repeat or figure out what it is. I need to have the noise in the rear shocks fixed so I'd like to get everything done at the same time while it's sill under warranty because I don't have as much time. Sorry for the long post but any help or info. would be great.
before they drive it around(trying to make it make the sames noises)...do they bring it into the nice warm garage?
suspension always makes noises like that in colder weather, its usually the springs that make the clunking noises. i cant think of what the "pop" would be. tell them to check all the sway-bar bolts and mounts.
mmm...does it pop when you turn the wheel? if it does, could be a CV joint, but those shouldnt be bad in a 2000....
