Turbo Prelude Question
Hey guys i was wanting to know if anyone had any part suggestions for building a turbo H22A1 engine? Im trying to build it right but not go all out because of cost i would like to stay in the 6k-8k range cheaper if possible. This car will still be my daily driver. I would just like to see some suggestions based on experience or knowledge, thanks in advance guys.

Re: Turbo Prelude Question
H22s are capable of a fair amount, and although I'll admit by no means am I an h series expert I have heard of 400hp plus, but it all depends on the cars use. A daily driver I would recommend setting a lower power goal so it's more streetable. I would add to that list stronger rods, arp head studs and main studs, cometic head gasket, upgraded tbelt. How much power you can make is based almost entirely on supporting mods and tuning. A good mess should also be added to your list

Re: Turbo Prelude Question
I will keep that in mind and if im not going to be running my car very hard just want to have a turbo and add more power plus a little more fuel economy would something like this be practical without many other upgrades with it? And Sorry if you think these are stupid questions I just want to go about this the right way.

Re: Turbo Prelude Question
It'd be more stupid to not ask and just throw something together and trash the block. There's a lot of baggage that comes with turbocharging...like the engine internals, engine management, drivetrain. I would put off buying things for a while and get to know every detail about your engine, like its strong points (closed deck design) and weak points (frm sleeves) and figure out just how much more power you want

Re: Turbo Prelude Question
how many miles are on the engine?
have you performed a compression test to see if the engine is healthy enough to turbo?
have you performed a cylinder leak down test to ultimately determine how healthy the engine is?
for a daily driver, i would keep it under 300whp (based on the dyno i use). I am running, and have been for a good while, 380whp on the stock engine. However, my engine is healthy and I have nice/efficient parts on the engine and it is tuned very well.
start with the basics first. You need to understand how everything works too so you know how to maintain it properly.

Re: Turbo Prelude Question
Just start reading a thread of someones car similar to the build you have in mind. Anytime you see something you dont know what it is stop, open a new window and read into that. Then when you know, go back and continue reading the original thread. Things will make more sense when you see how they work together as a system.
Its a snowball effect, at some point you wil have 10 windows going and reading until your eyes hurt lol. Eventually you will have a good grasp of whats needed.
