Alright guys, i've been doing some searching, but i'm not to sure whats my problem. When the car fully warms up, the car begins to knock, like a really loud pinging noise when i try to give the car some more gas. The car will knock at low rpm around 3-5k, but when i boost it goes away. Another thing is that when i go uphill, when the car requires alittle more throttle, it will knock as well. theres no funny idle, while the car is at a stop or while running. But i do have a reallly loud clicking noise from the distributor. Would a bad distributor cause the car to knock/pinging.

 

hmm maybe bad dizzy is messin up the timing

currently tuned on greddy emanage. yeah i guess dizzy will be my first option

 

maybe your pistons are hitting your valves are knocking.....hmmmm fun times

 

MAKE SURE IT'S TICKING NOISE NOT KNOCK CUZ THEY ARE NOT THE SAME. MINE TICKS BUT NOT A BIG DEAL. ( i BELIEVE THAT'S NORMAL) iF YOURS KNOCKS THEN HUHUHUH..

TRY ADJUST VALVE CLEARANCES, OR GET THICK OIL. I PUT LUCAS ON MINE AND IT WORKED.

 

he said its low rpm and going uphill under load, not all the time. So I think that pretty much rules out valve ticking. Check to make sure your base timing is right, and if its still pinging pull some timing on the bottm end

u cant adjust base timing on OBDII motors. You are supercharged man, time to step to another level of tuning.

what is with you and CAPS LOCK on all your posts

 

could be a bad rod bearing. my del sol acted the same way.

 

if it was a rod bearing, it would knock all the time.

low rpm's and high loads are the most prone areas for detonation.

 

You could try to take 1 spark plug off at a time to see if it goes away (rod knock) this may work it may not. Make sure your valves are adjusted properly (adjust dead cold). You could be running extremely lean. If its coming from the distributor it might be the gear that it runs off of. Take the distribtor out and look at the gear(could have play in it. Make sure you double check your timing marks before you pull it out.
