rod knock or ping/detonation knock?

Check and reset your ignition timing back to 15 +/- 2.

it is knocking because your car, i am assuming, was tuned with your aftermarket parts on, because you are running all stock it is knocking and will hurt your engine. If you are planning on putting your aftermarket parts back on since you passed smog, it will probably stop knocking, but put them back on soon, because knocking is bad for your car.

knocking is predetonation in your engine.

If your car is OBD-I then all you need to do is hook up a timing light to your engine and read the timing through the access port in the block. Then just adjust the distributor until the timing light reads within 2° of 15° at idle.
