ok i wanna replace the cap and rotor on my 95 JDM H22A. i know that the USDM VTEC motor had an external coil (i think. if not, lemme know) and that the JDM one has an internal coil. this makes the caps different. where can i get the right cap?!!? is it possible to modify an external coil cap?? another question: is the rotor the same for the two? i would think that it is. also, how do i remove the rotor to replace it??? i've searched but couldn't find much on this. thanx a lot.

FYI: i'm doin this cuz i think it may cure an elusive and intermittent hesitation problem i'm having. if this does not work then i'm goin to check/replace my injectors. after that, if it's still not gone, i may do 1 of 2 things: 1) shoot myself in the head, or 2) try to check the entire electrical system.
any suggestions to possible fixes are welcome.

 

if i remember correctly i used a civic cap and rotor, you can take the cap to the parts store and maybe they will match it for you.

 

for my JDM H22A i used a cap from a Honda Accord, for the rotor i can't really remember which one i used. Anyways, here's the part number for the cap.

Go get a cap from a 92-95 civic DX and get a Prelude rotor for your year engine - install them both and call it day!

 

I used a civic cap and button it works just fine. From a 93 civic ex b/c I think there all internal

 

thanks a lot guys! been really helpful. i took my cap off and rubbed all the connections inside and the rotor too and now the hesitation problem seems to be much better. i'm still goin to replace them tho. just curious tho, will a bad cap and rotor cause the problem i described (intermitent power loss and hesitation throughout the rev range)? just wanna confirm that i may have found the problem. thanx again!
