Default intake installation

well after reading that lightning motorsports write-up, i'm under the impression the "horseshoe" needs to be removed and the coolant lines tied back together using some new coolant lines. is that to just make it look nice so the "horseshoe" isn't half coinnected or what?

Well, the coolant lines have nothing to do with the intake install. What they are doing with the coolant lines is bypassing the FITV (fast idle thermo valve) to keep the TB a bit cooler.

Just do a search on for FITV and you'll find tons of info.

so the only part of that "horseshoe" I NEED to screw with is plug the hose from my intake tube to the other end of the hose going to the valve cover right?
