Installing DVD screen into dash?
So I'm getting a 7.2" widescreen flat panel monitor for my DVD player and I want to install it into the dash.
The simplest way would be to bolt it directly over the clock/air duct area of the dashboard with the supplied bracket. This would look cool and is probably the way i'll do it but I was wondering if you cut into the dash up there... is there enough room to mount the lcd upright?
Meaning, i need a hole about 1" x 9" in the dash (best bet would be right behind where the air vent fasia meets the part that butts up to the windshield) and it would need to be about 5" deep. The 5" deep is the part that depends on if there is room back there or not! Has anyone tore up a dash in a 5th gen enough to know?
I want to put gears on the side of the screen and use a servo to pop the screen up and down! So when you power on the car the screen would come up and then when you sut it off it would go back into the dash (like a scared groundhog)!
Thanks! Here's a pic of where I want to cut the hole...

Yeah... that's another big reason I want to have the automatic popup screen... If I have a monitor just sitting there bolted to the dash it's like saying "Hi, please rob me and **** on the seats, please!!!".
How do I check if there will be enough depth in the dash without having to hack it all up and then be terribly, terribly depressed when it doesn't work?!?
