Default Idles Rough... New Engine

Hey guys, first of all id like to say Hi this is my first post and id like to get str8 to the point. I own a 1994 Honda Prelude Si. Couple months I hydrolocked my engine and got a new one with 65k miles. The new engine sounds like ****, idles like ****... but has power *much better then my old one*. I am getting valve adjustment this thursday but what happens when my car idles it has a slight vibration which goes away above 1k RPM and the engine is loud as hell. I can hear the valves "ticking" and my rpm keeps jumping between 900 and 400 and it feels like its going to stall but never does. I am guessing the engine was beat on but hopefully with valve adjustment it should get better. ALSO my engine light goes on some times 20minutes into driving and some times 5minutes into driving... you guys have ideas? Can it be the emissions or what... i mean why the hell would it take up to 25minutes for the light to go on. And last thing, at my shop i was looking through are PC and it says the right ammount of oil for my lude would be 4.5 quartz... IS THIS RIGHT? It looks like just 4 is too much. Thank You for replying guys and for help.

CODE 23........ KNOCK SENSOR....... my teacher told me to get valves adjusted and see if light comes back..... because there should be less vibration but rough idle and stalling he said his not sure could be any vacum leak.... watcha think.

my first reaction is a vacuum leak. Possibly something to do with the TPS. That should be a code 7 though.

Next thing is I would have someone run a compression test on that motor and see what numbers you come up with.
