Idle question?
I just bought a 95 prelude si, it runs and drives perfectly but when i start it up in the morning the idle sits at about 1,500rpms. Most of my previous cars on a cold start would sit at a perfect idle (about 800rpms). Would this possibly be a idle air controller problem?
I second the answer - When the engine is completely cold, you will have 1200-1600 idle. The colder the ambient temp, the higher the RPM.
The Cold air valve is a piece of temperature sensitive "wax" that expands as it warms. There is a small (3/8" or so) hot water line from the engine, so after a pretty short time, the valve will start warming and the idle will begin to drop to normal running level.
