Idle Problems
Alright, so i have a 1997 Honda Prelude, it was a type sh but me and my dad did an engine swap to the h22 from a base model, we bought it from hmotorsonline.com, it got here, everything was dandy.
Got motor dropped in, tried starting, and nothing would happen at all. So we figured it was the alarm module since we had tooken it out (Its a Code Alarm CA 425), we plugged that in but then the alarm just goes off like crazy and doesnt stop.
(Alarm was in the car when we bought it, so we have no manual for it.)
We decided to jump the ignition wire that the alarm uses, still nothing. Found a little wire that wasnt hooked up to the starter, we plugged that in, and it fired right up.
Now the problem is that it idles at about 1k, then drops until it dies.
Its not a bouncy idle, it would go to 1k then slowly drop till it died.
Now sometimes it wont even fire.
The gas in the car is old, could that be it?
Any help is appreciated.

it could be the gas i guess because thats the same thing that happened to my quad (minus the engine swap part lol) i had it sitting for about 8-10 months
I would look into the alarm system. I know that when I went to start a Volvo with the vallet key it would start and then die and It took me forever the figure out I had the valet key.
And the alarm in my car would cause the engine not to start at all sometimes.
Not saying thats your problem but keep that in mind. Alarm systems can cause some weird problems.

no i havent read those giant, and idk that i feel like it right now.
i really hope its just the gas or maybe the alarm.
the guy said the car has been sittin for a while.
but problem is you plug in the alarm, hook up the battery, and it goes off like CRAZY and wont stop.
Plus they don't carry manuals for em anymore, its the Ca 425 from Code Alarm.
They don't have that model anymore.

You should probably get that alarm removed and rewire all the factory wires back in place. That'll at least rule out that the alarm is cutting off fuel/ignition/etc.
As far as bad gas goes, I had half a tank of gas sitting in my Lude for about a year and when I completed my engine install it started up right away. Even took it around the block for a spin afterwards, no idle issues at all.
I would look for a vacuum leak somewhere. Recheck all your vacuum hoses and make sure they're secure. Start around the intake manifold and work your way around.
Hope you get it working right.
