i was planning to get some carrillo pro a rods but then they don't make any for 95mm stroke. so i found some ib i-spec rods for $300. anyone disagreeing or recomending them? other choices? thanks.

There really isnt a place to get Carillo's on the cheap. Quality products cost $.

You are trying to penny pinch on your whole build huh?

Too bad I know a shop that sells both components for less... but you don't like me, lol.

As far as off the shelf Carrillo Rods. There isnt an H23 Pro-A rod so it would have to be custom made. All Custom ordered Carrillo rods are Retail $1250.00/set, but we do them for $960/set.
The only H23 Rod I have available in Carrillo right now is the Pro-H but thats now what you are looking for. These are $1240retail and we sell these Pro-H with CARR bolts for $940.00
The other choice would be the H22 Carrillo Pro-A rods and I do have that in stock. The retail price on that is $800.00 and I do have them for $695.00/set.
I know they are not priced cheap. But what quality product is. You can't compare an IB or Eagle rod to Carrillo rods. Totally different level and price range. Its not for everyone, but its for the users who understand what a quality product is and what is not.

Yep. Crower also has the billets available for the H23.

ya that too. Crower has the H23 billets, but I dont think with the Econo. I'm sure Pauters can make them too, but I doubt they have it off the shelf.
I still think the best way to do it with the 95 stroke is h22 rod with custom pistons. That way you can design your piston to whatever bore you want and compression you want to do.

so should i just get the carrillo w/ custom pistons? how much do you guys think it will cost? w/ the h22 rod and custom pistons it'll give me more rod ratio. i heard that a longer rod ratio will make less heat on the cylinders but the short rod ratio will give more torque.
the Pro-A Carrillo and Arias Custom piston, I usually do for about $1295.00
thats any bore size, any compression, with adjustment of wrist pin location to match with your 95mm crank setup.
Here's some custom H22 pistons we've done in the past:

so everyone says the ib spec rods are not good. is it not good just because it's cheap in price? has anyone used them and it failed on them before? i'm just going n/a here, maybe just over 300whp, you guys think it will break on me? i know carrillo, manley, and crower rods are strong, but is it woth it? it's not like i'm going to break the 9's in a 1/4mi or be dealing w/ really big horsepower. what do you guys think?

you make it sound so easy...

im very curious to know what you are planning on doing to make 300 whp. also is this your daily driver? do you plan on running pump gas or any gas for that matter? what kind of bore and compression are you planning on running. what about the upper half of the motor, cams, headwork, intake manifold, exhaust mani. and what are you gonna do for tunning.
please tell me how you plan on making anywhere near 300 hp, im just curious.

you guys are not answering the question but asking me how i'm going to hit 300hp. what i meant is that i will be around 300whp at max and was wondering if the ib spec could handle it or do i have to go with some premium brand of rods. maybe hitting around 250whp only but saying 300whp for insurance. i'm asking this because different rods have different ratings but i don't really know for sure.
Really seems to me that you're not listening to others. They're telling you that you can go with a high quality custom rod like Pauter, Carillo, etc. However, it's not going to be cheap, and rods aren't something you want to cheap out on a high end build. If you are honestly trying to make that much power NA, $1000 rods will be a drop in the bucket compared to the rest of the build.

actually its still very hard to hit 250whp n/a, on top of that rods dont have horsepower ratings.. rods dont care if your making 2whp or 1000whp.. they do care if rotating assembly is balanced or not.. or if you have proper oil/bearing clearances.. what the max rpm is all that stuff
people who rate rods via HP ratings are just marketing.. and usually marketing is bs

if you want to make that kind of power you shouldnt be cheap about any parts.
crower, manley, carrillo, are the three rods i would go with.
i have made close to 280 whp on carrillo rods and they are the nicest rod that i have worked w/ so far. get the carrillo lightweight rods, if i remember correctly they were called the pro a's or super a's
and stop being a cheap ***
