Default i need some help

Ok i finnaly got a job making enough money to start work on my car. It is a 92 prlude with an auto tranny,h23,with 200,000 miles. The timing belt broke and i had to get the whole head redone but it still smokes like a fire and goes through about 3 quarts a week.it runs smooth and makes a little knocking noise at high rpms.i was just wanting to know if i should be looking into a rebuild or a new engin all togather.thanks

hmmm
well first things first swap in a manual tranny with an LSD

as for the engine
find out if it just needs a rebuild or its in really bad shape in which you would need a new block

If you had headwork done on a motor with that many miles, the extra compression gained will cause problems with the bottom end. Since you had the head rebuilt, go ahead and get the bottom end rebuilt. More than likely the oil control rings are shot. Or you can go ahead and swap out for an H22 or build your H23. It all depends on how much money you want to put into the car. I would go ahead and do a manual conversion no matter what motor you decide to go with.

ok cool but about how much will i be talkin about. i want to have a motor that will hold about 100 hp per cylinder. i thought that the new compression would kill the rings and make it go through oil bad.but i want to stay h23 i mean i love vtec my friend has a 97 civic ex and its quick but when i first got my car i could keep up with him and he has 5 speed and a couple of external mods nothing big though. But to get to the point about how much am i talkin for a mabey used h23a1 in good condition.I have guys to the work for dirt cheap if yall know any liks that would help to......thanks bros

Reasearch it. There is a ton of information on this board on how to do it. 400hp is a lot and you will have to turbo it.
