Default Huge PotHole

So really I just need to vent some, I hit a huge pot hole on the expressawy today going about 70. I saw two other people on the side of the road changing tires, so apparently I was sorta lucky. Broke the sidewall on the front pass. Tire so now I have a huge bludge in it. I dont THINK i did antyhing to the suspension, it needs to be aligned now, but its driving fine. Are there any signs of a bent suspension component I should be on the lookout for?

I was also wondering if anyone had any sugguestions for a good all season tire. I really dont want to put something like a 712 on it because I am going to see some snow in just a few months.

I've heard of people getting the city to pay for their damage, might want to look into that.

i know people who sued and won money for repairs. the only thing is you got to be persistent about it and harass the city until they pay you.

oh yeah this is important, go back and take a picture of the pothole. it is a must!

get a picture of the hole and a picture of the damage and receipts and the city will reimburse you. I did this when I popped a tire on my 4th gen.

Yup its true. My dad works for the city and gets those complaints all the time and almost all the time they pay for repairs.

supposedly they wont pay unless the certain pothole has been complained on before but not fixed. A friend of mine bent his rim on a pothole, his lawyer said the city would not pay because the pot hole was not brought to the city's attention so there was no neglegence on their part. SO what i did is I have the city's # in my phone and whenever I see a pothole I call it in to try and help somebody out. I have also bent a rim on a pothole and it sucks having to fork out $$$ for 1 rim.

Yea, I have heard that too, I tried to contact the city today and really didnt get anywhere. Honestly Im more worried about the lude. It may just be mental but it seems like its harder to turn the wheel than it was before I hit the pothole. Hopefully its just that the car is way outta alignment and the tire still has no sidewall on that side.

Have any of you heard about something like this before?

u might want to get a new tire. If the sidewall is going, then u might as well just play it safe and get the new tire anyway.
