i want to put a new h22a engine into my prelude............but i did not know how much approximately a shop would charge if they installed it?

 

I need to know this, as well. It looks like I may have spun a rod bearing. Im' debating whether to rebuild or get a new engine in there.

 

Ummm how about everyshop is different you guys are going to have to <U>CALL</U> different shops and shop around conpair prices and go where you think it best for what your looking for......

 

Do it yourself.......the money you would be spending on labor could go to extras ........The engine swap is pretty straightforward

 

What all tools like an engine hoist do you need?

 

Engine hoist, jack stands, a jack, metric wrenches,rachets,1/4 drvie sockets,3/8 drive sockets, 1/2 drive sockets, deepwell and shallow as needed, assortment of screw drivers, phillips, flatheads, prybars, shop manual( will save much time and $). Dvom.
I did my engine swap, auto to manual conversion in my driveway. Before you install new engine do t-belt, balance shaft belt, water pump, balance shaft seal retainer, clutch
is needed.

 

How much work to hook up the old tranny to the new engine? I have a brand new clutch. Not to steal your thread, but w/ 150,000mi should I just replace the tranny too?

Just to give you a idea on prices , it can range from $700-1200 depending on the shop and thats just to swap the motor out and if you get another motor it will run atleast $2300 +. Why dont you just have the motor fully built and go from there . With sleeves and rods/pistons/bearings and water pump/ timing belt it will run about 3k for a motor that will make tons of power if you go n.a. or f.i.
