HOW TO: Ignition Key Light
Not responsible for any damage while attempting this.
Things needed
-screwdriver
-Soldering Iron/solder
-heat shrink
-about 6ft of wire total
-wire tap
-new plastic piece and the wires leading to the light plug
So the majority of preludes have this option standard, but im pretty sure that majority, if not all of, the "s" model preludes dont come with the ignition key light which goes along with the spaceship coolness. I wanted this as well so I looked into it. It was extremely simple to do.
Start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal. Remove the screws to panels for the underdash panel, steering colum panel, and shifter console.
Here is what it looked like without the light(my old setup)

After pulling off that black piece(just slids/snaps off) this is what your left with

Next. Locate a lighted ignition switch at a junkyard. Costs less then $10 for it all.

This little white plastic will be removed and put on your car. It just snaps off your ignition. Notice where the light goes in too.

Next is just wiring it, I ran a tap off the cigarette ligher so its not on all the time, just when your ignition is on. The wire you tap off is Either White/red or White/blue. It changes colors after the connector under the radio but either one is what you tap off

I soldered the wires together and heat shrinked it. Ziptie for a cleaner end product

End product :D Its brighter on one side but the picture doesnt show that it does go all the way around in a ring

Being that it is to show you where to put the key, shouldn't it be wired into something else? I am not sure where it is normally wired to but mine stays lit for 30 seconds or so after I open my door so when I shut the door it stays on. Other than that cool writeup.
my ignition key light works sometimes which is weared, sometimes it wants to work and sometimes it wont, and after it got broked in it was rare for it to even turn on.
