Default higher

hey..i 've read articles on guys who simply got a built head from JG or JUN and they're revvin to 9000....hell, the dohc vtec civic kit pulls to 9500+ rpm!! look for these kits and make sure your connecting rods are strong and the engine is in pristine condition...i half-built my sohc non vtec 1.5 and it pulls to 7200 rpm all day...

Are you talking about an H22a? It's simply not feasible or necessary to rev the H22a to 9000rpm+. I don't care what kind of rods you have in there... They will egg, deform, and snap. At 9000rpm in an H22a, the pistons would be moving at such velocities that no rods would be able to handle it. The geometry of the H22a engine with it's long stroke simply does not lend itself to reving much past 8000rpm...

And just because you can rev to X,XXXrpm does not mean that there is any power to be had there...

Yea, I would like my H22 to be a high reving engine as possible, but if there is no power there, there's no reason to rev any higher. A complete rebuild is somthing I will eventually have to do anyways, because of the nitrous, so a higher reving engine would be a sweet bonus, but are you sure about 9000+ rpm? I know the H22's run out of power at about 7200, so 9000 would be quite a jump. Is there actually any befeit of being able to rev that high? I think its cool, but not sure if it offers real benefeits other than not having to shift as soon.
