You'll probably find a lot information by searching for HIDs in here. Rumor has it your best option for lighting quality is to save up and get a retrofit done.

I guess what I'm more or less asking is, can you use HID bulbs without a conversion kit, and would they be brighter than an average bulb?? I fear that it may fry the wiring harness though...

hids won't fry your harness and are alot brighter when you get the 6000 or 8000 bulbs...the ones that only shine blue are more for looks than driving with.... the only thing that goes out is the bulb and not the ballast

I have been reading a TON about your same question and from what I've found DO a RETRO... Unless you want to spend every waking moment getting bright lighted and maybe even hasseled by the cops. There was a guy the bought some ebay lights and put HIDs in them but he never finished his thread to let us all know what the outcome was of the install

HIDs are nic but if you want good lighting go with retrofit projectors, cause light is only good if they hit the ground.

My fiance's regular lights are as bright as my brights are I live out in the country where there aren't any street lights, so I think I will just try buying some HID bulbs for now. Thanks for your input.
