Default Hi

well, i read here probably more then i should, but i finally registered and wanted to say you guys are great.. now don't kick me out just yet, b/c i drive a mustang.. i am actually looking into trading in my beater (90 accord coupe ex) and buying a 4th gen..

i am going to college next year, and i don't want to take the mustang, b/c it just got custom painted and all that good stuff.. not that i want my future prelude to either.. i am really looking at buying one soon, and all my mustang friends are getting pissed, b/c i plan on modding it before i go to school (hey, can't drive stock right?).. so i will shut up now, just wanted to say hello and all that good stuff

Really depends on the mustang....it's just the nemesis because 'most' of them are faster than the lude so it's a **** off

actually my family is known for the mustang family.. we have 2 and about to adopt a third (69 mach 1.. *drool*)

yeah i use to be ricer hater, and truthfully i still am, but there is just something about owning a nice little import car that seems to do it for me now..

hmm.. since this has become interesting.. i will post some pics..

the first stang 65 coupe..

302 pretty much stock with a few goodies.. basically a junkyard put together motor.. but hey, it runs mid-low 11s all day long, so i can't complain..

second is my baby 95 Gt

yeah that picture sucks, i know

I wrecked it so i fixed it, put a body kit on and a new paint job.. the transmission crapped out on me (this is why i am beginning to hate domestics, they never work) so it is waiting for a donor or a tremec...

so don't hate, i really do want a prelude, 5gens are too expensive, 4th gens have this certain feel to them, and i am trying to wait till the end of the next month, b/c that is when my insurance runs out..

if they links doesn't work, sorry, my file hosting people are dumb

welcome. no one will tell you to leave because most of us here hate ricers ouselves, and this is site is for all enthusiasts. so enjoy the site, and feel free to ask any questions.
as for your idea of getting a prelude
if you get a 4th gen VTEC, you'll like it because it will be faster than your 95 GT.
not as much torque but you'll love the top end. and if you're planning on drag racing it, don't even bother. go for an integra because of the weight difference.
but yeah, can't go wrong with the good ol' lude.

Gratz man welcom aboard...

I think we would all be lying if we said we didn't start out on domestics first then move to Ricers. I used to have a 78 25th anv. corvette. Loved that thing but stock for stock my lude and the corvette were the same..Then again it's an old one.
I still love the sound of the deep rumbleing of a low lopeing muscle car that can't idle and sounds like a popcorn machine.. "ramble..ramble"

drink up man

4th gen VTECs are tough to find...but that's what you want man...look for rust in the wheel wells and other body stuff...ask the owner how much oil the VTEC burns, cause they all do, some jsut more than others. Service records, find out when the timing belt was done. the year you want is a 94 or 95 they are OBDI so mod friendly, and they have the nicest interior. Good Luck

i will agree that a 4th gen vtec stock for stock is faster then my 95 gt.. my gt is an auto, and when it was stock it had 2.73 rear gears.. meaning, when i would run the quarter, i would hit 2nd gear about 200 feet from the finish.. it sucked.. hell a stock si, probably has more take off then that..

and i was looking at vtecs, but like someone said, they are hard to find, i hear the insurance rate is doubled.. so i was thinking either save up, jdm h22a swap, or a frankenstien it..

my dad's friend has all the machine engine crap, so could get it ported and polished for really cheap.. i am still shopping around, but i will keep you guys informed

for all the honda guys in here can you honestly tell me that you never thought about hooking up stang or camaro. I know theres a huge rivalary but the potential is there. Dont get me wrong i love h22as but a twin turboed stang with nos itll cost like 85 dollars. that **** would be so fast. Get a big *** Spearco in front. ahhhhhyou guys got to wonder about it sometimes.

yeah, i hear ya..

in no way, am i coming on here, and saying mustangs are better blah blah blah.. but my dad was always a mustang guy, so i turned out to be like him.. sorry, there were no preludes or vtec back in them days.. but as you can see times have changed..

also.. my mustang friends, including all dads mustang friends are all begging me to not buy a prelude, but to buy an old fox body.. but i have owned one before, and sorry, nowadays image speaks alot, i am starting to see the old mustangs and camaros as redneck cars, that hardly ever run..

I thought about getting a Mustang but I heard the insureance costs for the GT were just as much as a VTEC Prelude. Was/is your insurance that much?

honestly, i couldn't tell ya.. my dad and cousin own a body shop, so they listed the mustang as one of their work vehicles.. but with my record, i am sure i would pretty much be working for an insurance bill..

you can get insurance quotes online, which is what i plan on doing before making my car desision

If you get a prelude I know you'll love it. It may not be as fast as your mustangs, but you'll learn to love the incredible handling. And if you want to make your prelude go fast in the 1/4 you can do that too. Either way you'll love it.
