Default HELP....Crank Shaft Sensor????

My lude just stared to have problems. I came home and the car just died on me (Not even hammering the gas). I took it to the shop that they told me it was the Crank Shaft Sensor??? I dont know what that is or even heard of it. Can anyone please help me out. They wanted 1300 to repair but it just seems too much just to switch out a sensor. I am wondering how hard is it to change and can i do it?

Get a lude repair book. I have not done a crank sensor yet on my lude but did the timing belt ( didn't even know ludes had crank sensor with a distributer system) which isnt hard if you have worked on cars before. Took about 2 hours if I remember correctly.
